Reach Out to People!

There is so much power in reaching out.

Over the years, some of the most interesting conversations I've had have started with a simple message to someone whose work I admired.

This week, I'm going to make a conscious effort to do more of that.

I'll be reaching out to people I look up to, people whose work I've been following, and people doing things I find interesting. Some I've never spoken to before. Some I've wanted to speak to for a long time.

And at the end of the week, I'll share who I spoke to, what I learned, and how those conversations came about.

I think more people should do this. If there's someone whose work inspires you, reach out.

Ask them about their work. Ask how they got there. Ask about something they've written or built. Tell them why you found it interesting.

You might get no response. That's fine.

But you might also end up having a conversation that changes how you think about something, introduces you to an entirely new field, or leads to an opportunity you never expected.

You'll never know unless you ask. So this week, I'm going to ask.
