The iOS game market is clearly an ever expanding, ever booming one. Its easy to get lost in the sea of new releases, with review sites claiming almost every second release as either ‘simple, elegant and surprisingly fun’. Well if you’re like me, you probably need some games on that thing just to play while on the move. For some reason I never liked Angry Birds (hated it in fact), but there are some games that I really like. Cut the Rope is one of them.
Donot let the game’s candy filled and cutesie interface fool you, Cut the Rope is a very smart puzzle game. None of the frustrating unpredictabilities of Angry Birds, or the straightforward ‘touch mashing’ of various other games. The game has various boxes, each adding its own dimensions (such as portals, movable ropes, etc.) to the puzzle game.
The basic premise is cutting ropes attached to candy, collecting stars (gay as it sounds, but you have to play it, believe me) and then finally feeding it to the green thing (monster, if you believe the game). The game can be surprisingly challenging, but remains fun to solve throughout.
The downside is, that though the developers promise to come out with new boxes (and have released new boxes already), the game is fairly easy to play through. I finished the first 3 boxes in an hour, all stars, no sweat.
Nevertheless, this is one great game and worth every penny you spend on it (99 to be precise). Here’s the iTunes link, and if you wish, try out the free Lite version before buying it. Also see the (free) Holiday Gift pack, with different levels and a different box
